Florida is known for its resiliency in enduring and responding to all types of hazards, natural or man-made. Responding to these types of threats requires commitment and cooperation between communities, businesses, organizations and governmental agencies.
As the lead agency for Emergency Support Function 8 (ESF8), the Florida Department of Health (DOH) is responsible for coordinating public health preparedness efforts statewide. This includes preparing for and responding to incidents and events that may impact healthcare systems, especially in the event of a large-scale public health threat. The goal of Florida Health Response is to provide a central location to access the portfolio of diverse applications that support key preparedness and response activities.
About Us
The Bureau of Preparedness and Response is responsible for coordinating Florida's public health and healthcare system preparedness and response to incidents and events of all types. The preparedness effort focuses on developing critical capabilities necessary for an effective response.
The Bureau consists of multiple sections that manage preparedness and response programs, projects, and deliverables. These activities are funded in part by cooperative grant agreements with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) ,the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
